Topside for Chrome
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 12, 2026
Topside collects nothing. It never reads the pages you visit, their titles or their addresses, and it never sends anything anywhere.
What Topside does
Topside is a Chrome extension made by Actual Insight. It changes where new tabs open in Chrome's tab list: new tabs open at the top, links you open in a new tab open directly above the tab you came from, and a pinned + tab at the top of the list opens a new tab when you click it.
What information Topside uses
To place tabs, Topside uses the position of each tab in your window, whether it is pinned, which tab group it belongs to, and which tab opened it. It does not use the content, title or address of any page.
Topside saves one setting: whether the + button is turned on. That setting is stored in Chrome's own extension storage. If you use Chrome Sync, Chrome keeps it in step across your signed-in browsers. Actual Insight never receives it.
What Topside does not do
- It does not collect, store, sell or share personal information.
- It does not read your browsing history or the pages you visit.
- It has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking.
- It makes no network requests of its own.
Permissions
- Storage: to remember whether the + button is on.
- Context menus: to add the on/off switch for the + button to the right-click menu of Topside's toolbar icon.
